The conceit of this SF site/project is that there has been some sort of "rupture" on earth (second ice age, alien annihilation, etc.) and that sometime in the far future an excavation has been made of a site ( a ruined house), at which several bizarre artifacts have been uncovered. Essentially this is an exercise in estranging the present, and for this "exhibition" we have decided to focus on the way we presently store information. Put simply, in the past when one uncovered an obelisk, clay tablet , papyrus it was fairly clear when one was confronted with a species of information delivery. But, what would one do when confronted with a CD-ROM (for instance): how would one go about accessing the data on it, or even come to the conclusion that it housed vast quantities of information? In an attempt to deal with the extreme perishablity of the way we currently store information (as well as the split between inner and outer that it introduces), we have created this site, and invite all users to participate in our version of Sunday Afternoon Science Fiction by offering your own (humorous, serious, mystical, etc.) interpretation of the artifacts exhibited on these pages.
